Daily Defense #22: How To Reload a Revolver

I was taught the old fashion reload with right hand way years ago.

I'm left handed but when I first went into the Military left handed holsters even weren't available and I learned to load with the weapon in My left hand and loaded with My right hand. Also I could use the finger on MY right had as a buffer between the cylinder and the frame of the weapon to keep it open until all the rounds were inserted Once speed loader became available I kept them on the right side of My belt and took them out with My right hand and still held the weapon in My left hand. Don't try to change from what You learned and it will be a natural move based on how You learned way back when and one You don't even have to think about, just do it.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter Yes, once you have a system that works for you, stick with it. Some "experts" recommend carrying your spare mag vertical with the bullets pointing forward, but the mechanics are better for me with the mag canted forward and the bullets to the rear.

SGT Steve McFarland - Sounds pretty much the same as What I do except My spare magazine are on the right and I load the magazine with my right hand but operate everything on the weapon with My left as I'm left handed the exception being the slide with My right hand once the magazine is inserted. When our Police Dept. when from revolvers it was from a S&W .357 Magnum to a S&W 40 caliber semi auto.
