Don’t forget those of US who did a ‘tour’ in Northern Germany.
They call the wind “HAWK” for a very strong, cold reason!
Not to mention highway B-6, it’s in the Guinness world book of records as the Most Dangerous Highway & it ran in front of the Post!
Winter was Definitely Interesting! Sunrise at 1000 & sunset at 0100! Hard to try to sleep (?) when kids are playing outside of your first floor window!
Adapt & Overcome!
Learned to Sleep anywhere! Including the Parade Field in the rain!?

My German Ancestors were born in Strasbourg Germany. I didn’t know that when I was stationed at n Germany. My Great Grandfather was wealthy German with two sons (my grandfather & his brother). They were both ‘selected’ for service in SS School! My Great Grandfather took his family ( with permission) ‘on Holiday’ prior to start of SS School. They boarded a ship & Never even Looked Back! Arrived safe n Ny through Ellis Island and the rest is my history! Absolutely amazed at My Great Grandfather for his Strength, Courage, & Wisdom! Left EVERYTHING for Freedom! And people wonder why “I Poke the Bear”! It is literally in My Blood! lol That’s my Mother’s family! My Father is 100% 1st Generation Irish Greene born in USA! Then there is Me! Germany at Ramstein and Rhein Main not too bad. Had to go to Bremerhaven in Jan to retrieve my vehicle...what a drive back!
