Very good read. Probably one of the most overlooked issues that pertains to Afghanistan

It's hard to win an insurgency if the fighters can just run over some border and yell "on base, safe!" and come back at a time of their choosing. It's even harder if those insurgents find aid, comfort, resupply and reinforcements while over that border. The Vietnam war was plagued with similar problems and I look at Afghanistan as having some of the same issues to achieving victory (whatever that is in this mess).

I suspect if we pull out we will experience a fall of Saigon situation in a short period of time. The greater question is, if we do will it be bad, neutral or good in the long run? All my "it will be bad" arguments seem similar to the reasons not to pull out of Vietnam but just because they didn't come to pass with Vietnam doesn't mean they won't here.
