"f you're a politician, and your JOB is to pass a budget, do your JOB. Stop wasting time in giving speeches that use the military as either a shield to make excuses or as a tool to drive a political agenda. Those in uniform can see right through that. Plus, they have other, more important things to do and they need your support, not your pandering".....NAILED IT!!!

LT Brad McInnis - What's more sad is how many people buy it. The republicans and the democrats are equally to blame for any government shut down. Yet folks will simply back their guy and refuse to acknowledge its a two way street.

I posted this on FB and added the shutdown was going to happen no matter what. You can put DACA, the Wall, anything as your excuse to justify the reasoning to make it sound good, but in the end, it was destined to be done, it HAS been done, and those that caused it in both parties will be re-elected. DACA, the Wall, petty money isn't to blame here, it's fragile ego's and one upping the other that is. But this is what the "American People" wanted. I'm American and I damn sure never wanted a shutdown that harms everyone BUT those who did it. Hell I don't like the idea of the government shutting down period. WAY to many innocents hurt over this. To those who made those letters saying "hold my pay"? Sit the hell down. Holding your pay is not a show of solidarity with folks. Show how much you made outside of the government and that chump change you asked to be withheld will be interest on the money you actually made on your side ventures.

More likely than not DACA was rescinded so it could be used as a red herring.

SPC David Willis - If so, it worked perfectly. PSYOPS would be pleased with the results.

Good read. I agree on all but two things: Pres Obama signed legislation in the imminent wake of the 2013 shutdown for the military to get paid, and a few DoD personnel. The legislation extended the appropriations enough to continue pay. Pres Trump can do the same. I don't think either party would dare vote against it. Secondly, the article says that civilians are furloughed and have no way to make up their pay. When I have been in shutdowns, they always paid us (late). Of course that leaves a whole bunch of people on the periphery caught in the crossfire. The other points including about doctors, dental, etc. I had not thought about and are excellent points. If they would spend half the time working on a compromise they spend in front of the camera posturing and blaming, they would have it done by now. It's too bad their pay can't be docked too.

Don't worry. The Democrats will relent as soon as they decided that they've done enough to earn street cred with illegal aliens.

Here is an idea... why not remove all cameras, not allow any congress critter to get in front of one until the budget is passed.

How about if they just do the job they're paid to do, then there won't be any problems.
