For CVS, which own their own PBM, shoplifting has been a real problem. Even in higher income neighborhoods shoplifting can be a problem compounded by the fact associates can't follow them out of the store to even get a license plate number and are often near an interstate with easy off and easy on. Over the years I have had a decent number of my stores close. For some, you wonder why they even built it. We had a store built on a corner near a Mall. the site had been a gas station. we spent $1.25 million cleaning up the site before we could even begin construction. It was a long block with Walgreens at the other corner. When the VP toured my 7 seven stores he asked when we would be profitable, I told him never. Within 9 months we closed it. Despite our closing, that Walgreens also closed later. With high payrolls, lower margins, shoplifting is sometimes the difference between making money and losing

We've had several new small business pharmacies open up around here. I wonder how that plays into the mix.
