The air battle of German pilots flying against Russian and English pilots was almost a replay of medieval knights fighting one another from several centuries before this war. Regardless of how one felt, these were all brave men engaged in incredibly complex and dangerous combat. Fighter pilots have always been a unique breed, and some of the best ever came to the fore in World War II. And they almost all greatly respected one another, somewhat unlike the land battles which sometimes produced great hatred of one unit against another.
