Heartbreak Hotel was co-written by Mae Boren Axton, mother of actor, singer and songwriter, Hoyt Axton.

PO3 Bob McCord, the most famous song Hoyt ever wrote was Greenback Dollar, in my opinion. He was an excellent singer, songwriter and instrumentalist.
As for TV, he was on Hootenanny, Austin City Limits, he had his own musical special once and made many other TV appearances. I don’t think he was ever on Glen Campbell’s show.
He was in many films, but I remember him best in Gremlins.

SPC Nancy Greene, Hoyt Axton was a 1956 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL. I graduated from the same high school many years later. Mrs. Marion Dale, my junior English teacher also taught Hoyt Axton. She told a story of the police coming to her door and asking for Hoyt. He jumped out of the window (floor to ceiling) and ran down McDuff Avenue with the police in hot pursuit! She wasn’t one to joke around or fib, so I’ve always assumed the story to be true!
