I disagree about the Marine Corps. I don't believe they would be interested for the same reason they never adopted the A-10, despite it being a superior CAS platform. The F-15X is designed neither for vertical/short takeoff nor shipboard use. And that dramatically reduces its utility for expeditionary operations.

You may have a point about selling it to our allies, though.

I was just thinking that the Marine Corps would be more independent and not so much into the air force groupthink but you're right, they're stuck with the f-35c

What everyone is missing is that the F-15, in any of its models, is an air superiority platform. Marines need air to mud.

F-15X, with advanced radars and stealth-like technology. Lots to like in the Model X- a proven aircraft made even more advanced. This is what we needed to go to.... F-35 was not ready for "prime-time" yet. The F-35 should have remained in prototype status until it was further developed.

I guess the F-35 will be the Hunter and the F-18 will be the Killer.
