Nobody wants to admit that the Iranians have a death wish. They have people who believe that those who destroy Israel will bring Muhammad back. You can call them End of Time believers.

We don't know how much influence is in the current Iranian government to think in this doomsday way. I'm just putting it out there. Their behavior appears to be going in that direction even though their President says that Muhammad is a Prince of Peace, which makes sense, but the Iranian Government is not.

The president of Iran has wished aloud for the arrival of the 12th imam, who would come forth in a time of world turmoil.

Google Christian Churches in Saudi Arabia, then do the same for Iran... do the same for Synagogues. There are religious extremists in every country, however on the whole Iran is far more secular and tolerant than Saudi Arabia.

I heard an Iranian dissident speak in NPR said that 90% of young Iranians in the countryside don't go to prayer on Fridays. The countryside was once conservative but no more and they are the ones continuing to protest the rise in the price of eggs that set off the anti-government protests.

Probably 90% of the Iranians don't care about being fanatics. They just want to survive day to day.
