PO1 William "Chip" Nagel: In Arizona we have laws which make the judges', prosecutors', police officers' personal information that would be readily available from government entities inaccessible to the public. You can't get that information from the motor vehicle division, voter registration, county recorder (real estate records, real estate transactions,) courts (court filings such as divorces where addresses, etc. are listed), etc. Once you become a federal or state or county/city/municipal judge (except for tribal court judges) in Arizona, you are required to fill out the forms and they are submitted to all of the state agencies. This has been effective in stopping people from getting that information from government sources. The problem is how to get that information off the internet websites, etc. This should be a law in every state.
Many of us attorneys who practice family law have been begging to be put on the list as well. Disgruntled opposing parties can show up at our homes because they can get this information readily from the government sources. And we have had several family law attorneys who have been victims of disgruntled opposing parties.
