The Montford Point Marine Memorial at Lejeune Memorial Gardens honors the legacy of nearly 20,000 Marines who served from 1942 to 1949.
The Marines were the first African-Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps and trained at Montford Point, which is now known as Camp Johnson.
The men were honored on Thursday as a part of Montford Point Marine Day.
Three original Montford Point Marines were able to attend the ceremony at the memorial.
