While conservatives whine about illegal drugs, they ignore how legal prescription OxyContin contributed towards the current situation

This is a good development. What our government needs to stop yesterday are all the drugs currently crossing our southern border. Our homeless population and young on our streets are literally awash in drugs that are destroying them.

Smuggling such drugs into our country with intent to distribute should be a death penalty!

SrA Marc Haynes - I agree. I have some homeless in my family and see first how these drugs affect these people in the street. So many of their friends have died from overdoses, we pray God watches over them all and gives them enough strength to turn their lives around.

I know SFC Walko has me blocked, but I must respond to his comment:
"What our government needs to stop yesterday are all the drugs currently crossing our southern border."

We cannot even slow down, much less stop, the drugs like OxyContin that are made in this country. We will never stop the drugs coming in from outside our borders! Never! Not as long as there are the obscene profits to be made.
No laws, no punishment will stop drug abuse. All it will do is make the providers more and more wealthy. Why did we not learn this lesson with Prohibition?

Over prescription of opiates is easy to deal with. Pull the physicians license. Going after anyone else only makes it more difficult for those who need the drugs to get them.
