Trump said last week that the US might not respond to Russian aggression in the baltics if they aren't up to date on their NATO dues. Nothing like adding ambiguity to our deterrence stance and making the Russians think there is a nonzero chance we won't respond to their attack.

That is a good question. As NATO expanded east we let in smaller nations. If attacked would we go to war with Russia over them. I think not, we have done nothing to stop Russian reexpansion.

Remember that POTUS said the biggest threat we face is not Iran or North Korea with Nukes and threatening Israel or its neighbors, not China and its neighbors getting bullied or Russia bullying and ripping off the Crimea and not Russia arming itself and threatening the Baltics but stupid global warming which may or may not be true depending which scientific camp you belong to. Scientist are in a fight over this but the real threat is not something 50 years away but what we have right now POTUS! Not cap and trade cap and spend taxation. We will need the keystone xl pipeline built too (California oil is more dirty) when our sea lanes of communication are cut off by a war with the new USSR!
