Polls don't mean @%$&.
We don't go 100% by "majority rules". We have a Bill of Rights that protects the rights of minorities from the "tyranny of the majority".
If 99% of the people wanted to confiscate privately owned guns from peaceable citizens it would have no more legitimacy than if 1% wanted that confiscation.
