I had forgotten about this. But I know a lot of foreign militaries do training here. Seems funny to train everyone else... and I bet we foot the bills.

the German Air Force training mission has a huge impact on the Alamogordo Economy, much more so than in El Paso. they will sorely be missed, impact on the Civilian workforce on holloman is also bit. our shop alone has 3 positions funded by the germans, and those positions will be going away.

CSM Scott White - That aspect is huge. This has happened all across the nation as bases closed, realigned, and/or consolidated. Throughout the 90's was really bad as we drew down our forces in Europe and at home...

SSG Fleming, Yes the aspect is huge, Alamogordo is a small town dependent on the base for it's livelihood. I believe that the town would dry up and go to ghost town Status if the base itself closed. As someone else mentioned, hopefully another ally will step in and fill their shoes.

CSM Scott White - I don't mind that... I will admit I hate how much money we spend supporting other militaries and their economies while ours tanks. But if they are paying the bills absolutely...
