Question: Why did Japan, in the days before their attack on Pearl Harbor, rule out the possibility of invading mainland USA? Anyone? Aswer: Because they thought there would be "a gun behind every blade of grass." So my question is this... How will gun control affect such a perception and do you think this makes us, as a nation, weaker?

How many lives were lost fighting for the Right to keep and bear arms in accordance with the 2nd Amendmanet which anti-gun advocates seek to overturn?

1SG Dennis Hicks - 1SG, you may not like it, I know I don't but TSgt Rod Rodriguez has a point that is being overlooked unless you follow them. On FB, I was a member of NUMEROUS weapon sale pages. Suddenly FB made it against the rules to list a price of a weapon, so the sites would use "likes" or have interested buyers PM the weapons owner to talk about the weapon privately. FB caught on to that, and began shutting them down. I'm no criminal and I bought my M1A from another member of the page I was on. Now he was legit. I had to show him three forms of ID before I was able to take possession of the rifle in a Walmart parking lot. Now where he made sure I was legit and able to own, lesser folks who see or need money might not ask for that, or might mention it so they aren't flagged by FB, but in person money talks. Now the page where I bought my weapon is gone, and so are many others. Some changed names and open to closed to custom, as a means to keep going. It is a serious loophole, FB is trying to change, and it sucks to me, being there were MANY good deals on there. In the link I'm providing, this man was not hoarding weapons for himself, he was a go between on the underground illegal weapons sales. The number found has gone up a few thousand since this was initially found, but it presents a clear danger that is not Democrat or Republican, it's a danger that we could see ourselves but overlook it since he doesn't fit a "mold" that is preached day in and day out on national news.

Brother, this isn't going anywhere fast. You'll make CSM long before any real action in regards to weapons or checks is formally taken for action. This list that they want to use robs people of due process, one of the parts of the Constitution we swore to uphold. If you are on the list, now you cannot purchase a weapon. But what happens if there is another Andrew Griffin who is? Now you the honest one has to wait or get legal representation to PROVE your innocent. That is wrong. I see both sides with this. I can see if someone has been in mental health being barred from owning a weapon depending on what treatment was given, length of time, and prognosis of the condition. I would support that, no problem. I cannot support a "name" and a "gut feeling" to justify someone being on a list with no way to deal with it. Guilty until proven innocent? Wrong answer. I'm pro-gun and pro-SENSIBLE gun control. But the crap that Feinstein wants and others on the dems side is stupid as hell. On the repub side, flooding the country with weapons isn't the answer either. There needs to be a logical compromise, but no one listening. But while they're trying to see who can outdo the other, I'm going to really think about this Remington 200, and the Barrett 50. I want both, but damn that Barrett at 10k hurts.

SSG Warren Swan - I don't know how the Patriot Act would impact this. But I think our government has overstepped its Constitutional authority on a lot of issues, and they get away with it because we have too many stupid citizens. People forget that the government answers to them, not the other way around. A President should not have executive privilege.

Cpl Mark McMiller - " People forget that the government answers to them, not the other way around. A President should not have executive privilege". On the first part, you're spot on. But when you think you ARE the Constitution or you're the ONLY expert on it, you can easily abuse your authority and "power". Congress is good at that. Plus they know and we do too they do not work for the people. They work for the mega millionaires, the billionaires, the lobbyists, and special interests. Nowhere in what I said has you or me in there.
The President's source of authority to issue Executive Orders can be found in the Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution which grants to the President the "executive Power." IF that was ever taken away, then we have effectively begun to destroy the fabric that makes us who we are, along with the longest serving government body ever in the history of mankind. What else are we going to loose to "win"?

SSG Warren Swan - Nowhere in the Constitution does it authorize executive privilege or executive orders.
