I concur. Sounds like a pretty raw deal from the article. I wonder what *isn't* being said.

So, SFC Nicoson is being investigated as a result of being too close to Syrian soldiers...AS PART OF A CONVOY?

This is an absolute slap in the face for the Army, if you cain't protect yourself from hostile fire, then bring em home.

GySgt Thomas Vick I couldn't believe what I was reading. The guy jumps through all the hoops it takes to become a PSG; he learns all the ROE for the theater; he was undoubtedly instrumental in successfully deploying his unit; he's actually outside the wire doing what he's supposed to be doing and now this? Why should anyone join the military if this is what awaits them? Someone owes him a very large apology.

SSG Paul Headlee - Kind of reminds Me of the prior BS, MACV, Military Assistance Command Vietnam, Rules of engagement. The enemy had no rules, only We did and it got a lot of American's killed. Rules made by armchair commandos.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter Its a curious situation where we have good men and women dying and suffering all kinds of horrific trauma because they had the temerity to want to serve, protect and defend our country while some politicians and better-than-you people decry their existence and seek to place stumbling blocks in their paths.

Another case of an NCO taking the heat for his young officer.
Say you haven't done it once or twice yourself.

The officer received a GOMR and he is done in the military. While up front it looks like the NCO go it worse but if he is found not guilty he might get out of this altogether where as the LT is looking for a new career field.

MAJ Byron Oyler - Possible Courts Marshall and Fort Leavenworth must be easier than a a GOMR? I disagree. I do believe if they were going to let his officer off the Army should do the same with him. I think the same punishment for both - or not at all.
