Course of action: 1. Send him $150 Billion dollars? Wait, what??!! Khamenai is truly insane and when he finally dies, the next psychopath will take charge. Business as usual.

Lots of people do not understand that the Muslims take a long view when it comes to winning the war against the Infidels. Twenty five years is just prep time. Your take is on the mark.

More tough rhetoric for the masses. Khamenei and all of the old school hard liners will be dead in 25 years.

SN Greg Wright - Unlikely. When Iran becomes suicidal, we can worry about that, but Israel would wipe the desert clean if they did and they know it.
There's really no indication Iran is more dangerous than NK. Iran is a regional actor with lots to lose, is largely rational in how they approach things (even if we don't like it due to conveniently forgotten history), and is ruled by a team rather than a single psychopath.
Is Iran dangerous? Yes. Do we want them to have a nuke? No. It's, however, unlikely that even a nuclear Iran would be any more dangerous than Iran right now. If anything, we just have to wait out the post-Shah leadership.

SSG John Thornton - Correct. That we know of. But do you really think, despite the terrible deal Obama had made, that they will stop trying? I don't. And I think they'll get it, eventually.

SN Greg Wright - The deal is only bad if Iran pulls something super sneaky and the world fails to enforce the agreement. However, just complying with the requirements to even start the deal in motion will set them back years. The big complaint is that there's nothing in the deal that stops them from restarting the program in 15-20 years, but I think the hope is that in that time, the hardliners will be dead and the younger, Western-friendly generation will be more in charge. An engaged Iran that is enjoying new found wealth is far less dangerous than an isolated one struggling to regain its former glory.
There is also the inspection "secret deal" but that's something to keep an eye on as it's not part of the official accord.

SGT Jeremiah B. - You make good points that have slightly altered my viewpoint. Thank you.
