Thank you, my friend SSG(P) (Join to see) for posting the uplifting news that Lance Cpl. Caleb Eudy has been inducted into USMC Basic after being diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma in 2016 one month into recruit training at the Parris Island, South Carolina, depot.
"After 956 days as a recruit, he became a Marine receiving his Eagle, Globe and Anchor during a hallowed ceremony April 13 following completion of the 54-hour crucible.
“I just got told I had cancer, you know. How do you react to that?” Eudy said in a Marine video. “Most people don’t know what that’s like, ever. ... Do you say thank you? Do you just stand there and stare? Do you cry?"
Kudos to Lance Cpl. Caleb Eudy for his perseverance and finally earning the right to wear the Eagle, Globe and Anchor.

Outstanding, Lance Corporal! Occasionally, we see examples of real perseverance in Marine recruits. When I was a recruit, we had in my platoon a full-blood Lakota who developed double pneumonia and never told anybody (DIs or recruits), apparently out of fear of shaming his people by being hospitalized and dropped back in training. After he graduated and was a Marine, he reported to sick bay. I never did find out what became of him. He and his side-kick, a Latino recruit, were the two cockiest SOBs I ever saw in boot camp.
