That is what happened with most of the equipment after World War Two. Untold numbers of Military aircraft and equipment was dumped into the Pacific Ocean to prevent the next enemy from making use of.

Someone must've been aware that, despite any training that the Afghans received, that all of these weapons and equipment would be confiscated by the new rulers, once the US pulled out of Afghanistan. This war had to end eventually, so this was coming.... Perhaps -along with the classified documents- all equipment should've been destroyed prior to pulling out? At any rate, it should not have fallen into the hands of the Taliban...!
