This isn't necessarily a new idea. Decades ago the government had brainstormed the "Space Wars" program. Our technology is getting to a point where we can actually make use of that new dimension on the battlefield.

In my view, the creation of a "Space Force" is necessary for the protection of our Nation & the free world! It will start small & grow as our involvement in Space grows! 1st from Earth orbit, followed by our moon, & then Mars... Why? It is really quite simple. Whichever Nation controls Earth orbit, then the Moon followed by Mars will control the Earth... China has already landed a spacecraft on the far side of the moon. How long, before the Russians land one? ...and away we go! Moon bases will start, grow, & will be hardened. Same for Mars. From the moon, a missle, or even laser weaponry can target anywhere on planet Earth... It won't be active in my lifetime, but the process has already started... Think about it for a minute or three!

Couldn't agree more. The Air Force had a space division but I truly believe that we need people dedicated to this mission. There are numerous small companies popping up launching rockets and building aircraft that will take tourists into space and return them safely to the ground. We've already seen the creation of space port in New Mexico and it's only a matter of time before we start launching and retrieving from there.

Spaceport America is a FAA-licensed launch complex, situated on 18,000 acres adjacent to the U.S. Army White Sands Missile Range in southern New Mexico. This spaceport was intentionally built for commercial and industry and has a rocket friendly environment. Spaceport America currently hosts Virgin Galactic, United Launch Alliance, Boeing, UP Aerospace, EnergeticX Pipeline2Space and EXOS Aerospace.
