Most Veterans I know, virtually all; don't support the rewriting of our history books, renaming our schools, removing statues, historical markers and story boards that have any mention of Confederate State's military leaders. Historical figures such as Robert E. Lee, J.E.B. Stewart, Stonewall Jackson, John Bell Hood and the like. If I sought out Veterans I know with Progressive Liberal tendencies I could probably locate a couple. But as a whole I would say Veterans don't support this. A truer statement might read, "Progressive Liberals with links to Veterans and Hispanic groups support renaming Fort Hood after notable Hispanic Medal of Honor winner." Removing the truth from plain sight only hinders efforts to not repeat the errors of history. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. I have no affiliation to Hispanic groups but my next door neighbor of 30 plus years is a Tejano on one side and Spanish on the other. We had a big Barbeeque two weeks ago with her extended family and this subject came up because it had been on KXXV Waco news that week. They thought it would be an honor to have Fort Hood named after a Hispanic hero but they were against renaming Fort Hood since it is a historical part of Killeen, Texas since the start of WWII. I am an avid history buff and I hate to see history buried, removed or obliterated because it is a favorite tactic of our historical enemies the Communist and Fascist Dictators. I am not a native Texan but a transplant from Minnesota at the age of 18. We are a nation of truths and we should carry on avoiding coverups even though some of our current political leaders live by it. Enough said I will get off my soapbox now!

SFC William Linnell
and roger SGM. I hate this ignorant mind set that has taken root.
On a side note that's always bothered me when they talk about the Medal of Honor. The Service Member that is receiving it or family, That SM didn't "Win" the MOH rather the SM was Awarded the Medal of Honor. I guess it's just nitpicking.

Should not be about race. He was a warrior who did it right above and beyond. Justified by his warrior ergo.
