PO1 William "Chip" Nagel
Watch the Video all the way thru. Definitely an excellent History Lesson that we need not ever repeat.

The man was smart enough to have a country take on the world. He just under estimated the reaction.

PO3 Donald Murphy
He knew the reaction. England/France/Europe up until that time was so traumatized by WW1 that they were willing at any cost, to have peace. He was a gambler and no one called his bluff. The annexation of Austria, the annexation of Czechoslavakia... No one was willing to take him on. And even when the Allies "drew the line" at the invasion of Poland, it was almost six months before they did anything. Had France crossed the German border, the war would have been over politically for Hitler as the rank and file German would have seen French soldiers walking willy-nilly through the German countryside.
His biggest mistake was declaring war on the USA. As Japan and Russia "had beef" prior to 1939, and as Germany/Italy/Japan were allies, you would have thought that Japan would have launched a second front against Russia when Germany invaded. They didn't. So Hitler technically, had no reason to declare war after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.
