I've studied World War II just about as much as most scholars and yet never came across a course that provided context as the one now being offered by Hillsdale College in a series of lectures by Victor Davis Hansen. It's on line and free. When I say it provides "context", I mean that rather than focusing on battles and famous personalities, it provides an overview of the war. The first lecture is an introduction by the college president. The next three delivered by Hansen, deal with Air Power, Naval Power, and Ground Armies, comparing their strengths and weaknesses. I recommend it highly
