All of Iowa's major exports are subject to the tariffs imposed by China. Soybeans, Corn and Pork. Iowa farmers are about to take a major hit and they know it and are VERY worried about it. This could have all been avoided if Trump had not acted rashly in favor of one industry. His foresight was incredibly lacking and will cause major problem in our agricultural industry.
Corporate farms will i all likely hood survive this. Independent farmers however will take the brunt of this little trade war. I foresee problems on the scale of when Reagan vetoed a bill that would have helped subsidize farmers back int he 80's when many independent farmers either lost their farms or went bankrupt.

Yep. The retaliatory measures by China whom US small and big businesses depend heavily on export of their US goods have to find other customers to offset any losses; especially, considering not knowing how long these political games are played. For this to be called tough negotiations implies one side has leverage on the other. So I must be missing something cause I don't see it.
