The reference to Karim Khakimov being theSoviet Lawrence of Arabia is far fetched.
Lawrence was very involved withe the Arabs, ensured they obtained supplies and suffered hardships as a fellow in their wars.

I still have to read his book The five pillars of Islam but I do have the long version director's cut of Lawrence of Arabia. Though we know this is through the Hollywood lens, it still shows a lot of what T E Lawrence did. I think it's possible that Lawrence suffered PTSD have you liked the adrenaline of racing his motorcycle.
