I am a Professor at a small Christian Universtiy and must agree that there are anti-military feelings that swirl within these academic institutions. I worked for LTG Eikenberry as the CFC-A Theater Chaplain in 2005/6 and found him to be intelligent, engaging and a fearless leaders in instituting change and challenging status quo. Remember, just because someone pats you on the back and says thank you for your service, does not mean they really support you. If you are headed to academia beware of what you're getting into. It is totally different from the military institution and not necessarily a military friendly atmosphere.

http://repository.upenn.edu/dissertations/AAI3455414 I thought you all might find this of interest given the topic as a basis for comparison, obv it's a very great pity, as I'd mentioned elsewhere on the site about this whole topic, of course, enjoy, many thanks.

That was a great article. He survived it and did well....with lots of critics.
Let's face it, CSMs do not always have the same MOS as their BN. We have SIGINT COLs command CI Groups/BDEs. Managers are not paid to be SMEs they are there to be managers.
When I was a Marine Squad Leader, I went to the 2d MARDIV Marine of the Month board. One of the questions was, "What is the weapon of an 0311 Infantry Marine Squad Leader."
The answer is his squad! That is his most powerful weapon. Early management education that I never forgot.
