That and it is not practical in urban landscapes. Air is heated to a much higher level above the ground AND wind does not flow freely due to the skyline breaking wind flow.
In the more rural towns, where 4+ story buildings are rare, there is less hard and dark surfaces reflecting sunlight and heating the air, and there is less heat producing energy production (including vehicles), it may be VERY useful, indeed.

We've lost so much ancient technology through the centuries. It's good we know thos one.

It really makes me wonder how the people 3,000 years got the knowledge and wisdom to come up with contraptions like this AC in the desert. I guess with no TV to distract, some serious thinking time can take place, or else little green men were visiting.
