It's going to take months to train them on how to crew and maintain them. The Leo's that Germany is going to send will be better since they have diesel instead of turbine engine. I've also heard that the M-1's need more maintenance than the Leo's. How long will it be till we see photos of western tanks sitting in fields like the Russian ones were. I surely hope they can use them, but I think it would be better if we used them to backfill countries that sent T-72's to Ukraine, they all ready know how to use those.

As far as I am concerned, you hit the nail on the head. M1s are over all to costly. Leopards are a much better tank for this purpose. Big waste of our tax payer's money.

This story is slightly inaccurate. Germany and the U.S. agreed to send tanks at same time. Germany proposed to U.S. that they would give tanks if U.S. did too. If nothing else this shows Putin a united front by the EU, NATO and the U.S. Since the total tanks across the board is about 100. Ukraine wanted 600 tanks. This is more about showing Putin the West's resolve. Something they failed to do in 2014 when Putin marched into the Crimea and took it after the west tried to appease Putin not to take the rest of Ukraine. Thanks for the share MAJ Dale E.
