In the school that I taught at, we fed 100% of the kids breakfast and lunch. Dinner for those that stayed for after school tutoring or clubs. The sad part is that the cafeteria food is mostly preservative filled junk... what's worse is that it's MUCH better than what they might have gotten at home.
Schools are now a big part of the social welfare system, for better or worse.

Sure would be nice if we could get them healthier meals. Guess like all other things it is a work in progress.

Well on the Obama (for lack of a better term) phones alone the Gov't chipped in 2BB.....Bet that would have set up a nice summer food program I think..That's just one example of spending money in the right places....You cannot eat phones!

There are dozens if not hundreds of programs and projects out there that are of lesser priorities, I just cited this as it is a well known program.

Q: Has the Obama administration started a program to use "taxpayer money" to give free cell phones to welfare recipients?

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I researched the whole thing before the first keystroke was struck. I read the one you cited and the one above it on the results and a few more and the bottom line is that of 11BB the program cost (much was donated and raised by the "Telecom" industry) we chipped in 2BB....
