Opioid problem is only going to get worse with narcan over the counter and people knowing if they take too much anyone can save them. I understand these measures are for families that loose people to opioids however it increases the drain on society. Heroin addicts can now have heroin parties with a 'designated driver' that stays sober with narcan in hand if anyone shoots too much up. Things are going to get worse.

Police and emergency response teams in Boston carry injection to counteract OPIOID overdoses, as well.

I would like to feel more sympathetic, but I have never taken anything like that and hopefully will never have to. Barbara Bush and Nancy Reagan said, "Just say no". It's up to the patient and Doc to stop this madness if the meds are warranted, otherwise, if you are taking them as a doper, tough luck.

Most of the legal overdoses are from poly pharmacy, taking meds together that were not intended to be taken together. It is much more difficult to OD on PO meds that were not prescribed to take at the same time than the heroin addict that shoots a bit too much.

PO2 Robert M. - And he and his Docs fit into one of the categories I noted. Many in the entertainment industry have more than one Doctor and the user don't keep them informed. The term doctor shopping comes to mind. I left the military with a bulging disc and was told I would have chronic pain. My wife has severe arthritis and has for years. We both use only over the counter pain relief meds.
