LMAO! This is your analysis of what went down over the weekend? Millions of people participated in peaceful demonstrations across the US; 500 anarchists riot in a couple of locations. Your takeaway is that anyone who disagrees with the president is a threat to democracy? Wow!

Neither the article, nor Col Williams asserted "...that anyone who disagrees with the president is a threat to democracy". It is not a wild leap of logic to say that the "...500 anarchists riot[ing] in a couple of locations" are.
There is nothing wrong with peaceful protest. I consider it admirable even when I disagree with the protestors. The violent ones are lucky they live in America. Most likely they will face no trial. If they do go to trial, they will get some minor fine that cost less than a weekend pass at Disneyworld, and time served.
Those attacked and injured will receive no recompense for their injuries, for their cost of medical care, no consideration for lost work time. Those whose businesses or property are damaged will lose money. Insurance will make up some but not all of the damage. The remaining costs will be passed on to you and I, and the commercial insurance rates in the area will rise, once again "taxing" you and I.
This is not about disgust with President Trump. Violent political activist (mostly the left) have conducted themselves this way for decades. The violence carried out by left and right is about intimidation. If we the voters don't give them what they want, we're going to pay. We need to teach them what intimidation is; confinement measured in years, confiscatory criminal fines, mandatory victim restitution to include punitive damages.

COL Jean (John) F. B.
People are free to protest in accordance with the law, however, once they break the law, they are no longer protesters, they are criminals and should bed dealt with as such. Their right to protest does not trump the rights of others to be safe, navigate public places and roadways, be free from having things thrown at them, etc.

Maj John Bell - OK, I can agree that violent extremists could be a threat to Democracy. But rather than focusing on "leftists" we should be concerned with "extremists". On one hand we have Anarchists who tend to be leftists and who want to abolish the government and on the right we have groups like "Citizens for Constitutional Freedom" that take over and vandalize Federal property. Both types of groups fall within the political spectrum, but neither represent the central beliefs of the core constituencies of liberals or conservatives.

Not my analysis or assertion. I was simply sharing a news story. MAJ Keith FitzPatrick, CPIM, CSCP

Let's not say me, or them. I was simply sharing an article I saw in Real Clear Politics. That is at least one news source that seems to pull from all sides. I don't believe demonstrations are an attack, but rioting crosses the line.
