Mother nature is vicious and doesn't care. Water is the number one need and the flood waters destroyed the means of delivery and the sources. Hopefully, the folks of Asheville will rebuild quickly.

The Damage done in Helene far outstrips Katrina. In Katrina, New Orleans was drained in 2 1/2 weeks, damage to the road networks was moderate, and the basic infrastructure was still in place. In Ashville, Erwin, Newport and Johnson City, a big part of the roads, water, sewage and power are gone. The engineering response has been impressive, but there is a lot of damage and debris to get through before the real works starts.

What a horrible, horrible thing to have happened Brother Dale, especially without the help you would have expected from our government.

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D.
