Refueling tankers are force multipliers that are not only used for refueling other aircraft, but are also configured to carry cargo, passengers and medical patients. Unfortunately, the Air Force’s current fleet of tankers dates back to the Eisenhower era and badly needs replacing.

Here is a much newer tanker the KC10 Extender with an inflight refueling to a F16 with an F15 and another F16 off it left side and behind. These have already replaced many of the KC135 tankers.
