I have long awaited the economical use of capacitors rather than batteries of any type to power cars. I wonder if the same could be done with something as large as a submarine...

In the days of the Leyden Jar a 1 farad cap would have been the size of a large room. Now they are $5.99 and up at retail and car audio stores, and the size of a D Cell battery.
