Obviously I am no expert on communications equipment. Special Operations can be the most forward deployed and the distance can be great from the operators to the Combatant Commander's HQs. However, conventional forces can be far away from the HQs as well. Why do Special Forces need their own unique communications system? Do we have the technology to communicate with Special Forces all around the world? If not, what are the limitations?
