PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - The Democrats only became popular with The African American Community in the 1960s when LBJ pushed for the Civil Rights movement. The old guard Southern Democrats were no friend of the Civil Rights movement.
Politic parties change in order to maintain power. I despise both political parties for various reasons.
The Parties will continue to flex polocies and pander for votes and power

See Chip that's your problem. You believe everything you hear. The long time mayor of Chicago Richard Dailey was a Democrat and no freind to the black community. Hillary's father, a democrat, was a friend of David Dukes and long-time Klan member. I could go on and on. Governor Wallace oh yeah Democrat.

Why is the black community invested in the Dem party? By intentional design back during the 60's with LBJ and others. As 1stSgt Eugene Harless says, LBJ pushed the Civil Rights movement, but for political expediency and power retention, not any love of blacks.
Some of his statements as you no doubt know:
These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference. For if we don’t move at all, then their allies will line up against us and there’ll be no way of stopping them, we’ll lose the filibuster and there’ll be no way of putting a brake on all sorts of wild legislation. It’ll be Reconstruction all over again.

“I’ll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.”

Now, I don't buy or remotely agree with Johnson or his ilk, so don't go there. The Dems observably promise/do just enough to string people along, but never accomplish substantial change.

Having worked for my county's elections board, I can say that it is incredibly easy to catch illegal voters. The problem is lazy voters that refuse to hold their disciplinary infrastructure accountable. Were we to punish just 1% it would send a message.
