I really want to think well of General John Kelly, but it seems quite a distance from the man who asked asked not to have his son's death mentioned in his introduction to the Semper Fi Society 4 days after the death to this very Trumpian statement arrogantly telling an untruth. There seems to be a malevolent force in the White House bending minds that come near him.

Yep, stop taking sides. They are all on the wrong side of this. It was a sacred trust violated by all parties. And nobody gets a pass on lying. We are all better than this.

LTC (Join to see) - What "sacred trust"? If you mean the phone call, I re-posted a video of a call Trump made where he NAILED it perfectly. I do not even like him, but he actually got it right and made the family smile. It was a video with a GB in it and he was also present for the call (on speakerphone), so what "sacred trust" is there? Are you implying that when someone gets a call from the POTUS it should be treated as some secret squirrel deal? It's not like he's alone when he makes the call, his lines aren't monitored, and no one is there to prepare for damage control when a screw up happens like this time.
This is where he got it right.
"Two days after the arrival of her husband's body, Trump called as she sat with an Army casualty officer"....what trust is broken when someone is always there?

A Gold Star widow says Trump understood her loss
Natasha De Alencar was at home after a trip to Walmart in April when a phone rang. It was President Donald Trump calling a few days after her husband was killed in Afghanistan.

He didn't know Trump would be in charge
Just Drop It, Let his unit bury him. The Politicians and the Press need to back off and shut up

So your both good with her voting record? Votes not to fund the VA... soldiers, perhaps you know one are committing suicide and this elected official votes no on the VA. Your good with that? I would guess that you are not so don’t get to distraught about her faux outrage. And before you go there... yes I know you hate Trump and I’m a racist...

LTC Marc King - next step in the pattern-- when called out about deflecting from the topic, resort to name calling and insults. But under no circumstance actually state your personal opinion of the topic at hand. Well played. You have avoided actually addressing the topic completely.

Quite to the contrary. I been following this all day and commenting regularly. I watched and listened to the video. And I have enough head space to see how it can lead one to believe that this charlatan was taking credit beyond what she had actually contributed to the FBI Building. But don’t take your eye off the donut... she injected herself into a private conversation. I’m of the mind that SSG Johnson would not agree... knowing perfectly well that he volunteered for his service and his warrior ethos knew this was a potential outcome. He was not drafted... he volunteered and was clearly not new in his service. He knew, his family knew we all know! This “empty barrel” does not know... All she knows is she hates Trump and saw an opening to become a “Rock Star”. As for General Kelly, he is entitled to get some facts wrong without being called a lier. I understand you are a Trump hater but you should think twice before breaking faith with your warrior ethos and denegrate a fellow officer.

LTC Marc King - "she injected herself into a private conversation"? Are you sure about your claim? I see a lot of bias interjected with no facts to back them up.
"She also founded a program in 1993 called 5,000 Role Models of Excellence, which helps at-risk minority youths prepare for college, vocational school and the military. Her long career in public service and her work in the program have put her especially close to military families and victims of gun violence over the years. She does not shy away from grief.
Before Johnson was killed in an ambush in Niger earlier this month, he graduated from the program. Wilson was consoling his wife, Myeshia Johnson, when, by her account, Trump called and said that La David Johnson “knew what he signed up for, but when it happens, it hurts.” The president has called the allegation “totally fabricated” and criticized Wilson".
Just off that alone there stands to be a solid guess she could've known the SGT before he enlisted, her program assisted him in getting his life together so he could do better things, and maybe she knew his family members also. It would also be acceptable to assume that even if she did NOT know him, yet he graduated from her program, if it's still around, she would have knowledge of him through those who are managing the program now, and they would've gotten her in touch with his family. LTC Micheal Mathews hit it on the head with his assessment. NO ONE on this site is in ANY POSITION to tell a grieving family the "proper" way to grieve. No one on this site is in ANY POSITION to say what is acceptable for everyone based upon what is acceptable to them, and NO ONE on this site, the WH, or GEN Kelly (who I actually respect) can dictate what is acceptable language to use that can relay what respect is or is not. GEN kelly was wrong in what he did, and Trump was DEAD wrong to use Kellys son as an attempt to take a petty swipe at Obama. Dress it up any way you like, interpret what I say any way you like, but I saw the topic, stayed on the topic and did not throw insults or petty jabs at anyone.....but you are in a position where you can say otherwise and I'm in a position to not give a damn.

SSG Warren Swan - SSG Swan I appreciate the fact that Rep. Wilson has done many good things for her constituents over the years. In fact I grew up less than a mike from her district, before it was a congressional district so I am well aware of the many challenges that have been faced by many of her constituents. However; that does not mitigate the fact that she did inject herself into the call that was made by the Commander in Chief to the widow. I would not have a problem with her criticism if should stood in the well of the house and chose to denounce the CinC through her bully pulpit and a member of Congress. Her approach was crass, ill timed and created a fire storm that we did not need. I get it, she was in the car, heard the call and by any reasonable persons assessment injected her self in to a conversation that she was not a party too. I;m sure you will remember the old military axiom that " a Thousand Atta Boy's is wiped out by a single Ah Shit!" This was clearly an Ah Shit on the part of the Congresswoman. She is a Trump hater, I get it... but she is also a political opportunist of the first magnitude... She got what she wanted from the episode... "Guess I'm a Rock Star Now". Is that really the response you expected from her? I deal in the realm of Washington and Congress all the time and I can tell you from first hand account that Rep. Wilson was a political "back bencher" as far as the Dems were concerned. Inside political Washington the word on the street is that she did nothing to enhance the Democratic party and in fact may be helping to work against them. Some food for thought.
