Deborah I had the honor and privilege of meeting Richard “Dick” Cole at the former Nimitz Museum now known as the National Museum of the Pacific War in September 2017 while he was a spry 102. His daughter brought him by to meet his fellow WW2 Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. It was our groups annual National Reunion. He was really sharp mentally. Both he and his fellow Veterans were genuinely glad to see each other. I had a 75th Anniversary hat on my head that he autographed for me. The Coordinator of the event snapped a photo of me asking and receiving back the autographed hat. She had it signed by him as well later on and mailed to me. Lt. COL Dick Cole will always be a Hero of mine! Being the co pilot of Jimmy Doolittle’s during that famous raid over Japan just really makes you think! He almost made it to the 77th Anniversary....May all the Doolittle Raiders now Rest In Eternal Peace for their last April Reunion!
