3 Stooges Birthday Song
Good afternoon my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell and thank you for posting yet another made-up holiday ostensibly to honor the ribald practice of developing and performing the Limerick[s].
Rest in peace Edward Lear.
It is noteworthy to me at least that the limerick you posted from Edward Lear is 4 lines and not the requisite 5 :-) I looked up other poems by Lear and noticed the Limericks were all four lines - they rhymed but are not actually limericks.
Here is a family friendly limerick from familyfriendpoems.com/poem/when-i-m-old

"When I'm old and mankey,
I'll never use a hanky.
I'll wee on plants
and soil my pants
and sometimes get quite cranky."
"A limerick is a form of verse, usually humorous and frequently rude, in five-line, predominantly anapestic meter with a strict rhyme scheme of AABBA, in which the first, second and fifth line rhyme, while the third and fourth lines are shorter and share a different rhyme"
