A bit of video from 1973 (yes there was video back then! Yes it was color! No I wasn't there! LOL).
On April 28th, 1973 the area around Southern Pacific's Roseville Yard, located northeast of Sacramento, CA -- the largest rail facility on the West Coast -- was heavily damaged when a munitions train exploded. Here is a media clip of the disaster, and photos of the responding AF EOD Team, a newspaper clipping, and a resolution of commendation by the CA State Legislature crediting EOD for a "job well done."

Hard to believe that no one was killed although with ordinance going off so close to the communities of Antelope and Roseville would you ever find evidence in this much destruction? Great story and share!

Interesting story. Surprising no one was killed and also surprised the cleanup took less than a week.
