Magnificent Mars: 10 Years of Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter

Over the last month or so we have been focusing on Planet Mars and the Perseverance Rover and to some minor extent, the Insight Lander... However, we have really not delved into the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which has been operating in the Martian atmosphere and circling the planet... it has been in orbit for about 10 years and has made some 45,000 orbits over that period of time... It has provided NASA with some breathtaking images and I am bringing you a 2:20 minute video clip of some of its image captures in video format... PLEASE WATCH IN FULL SCREEN WITH SOUND COMFORTABLE FOR YOU...
I venture to say that very few of you have seen the mesmerizing detail of Planet Mars and I believe that you will be astounded at the overall beauty of this planet, which, to me, shows this a planet that is not dead, but it has seasons, it has ice caps, it has land avalanches, gullies, water ice, CO2 dry ice, rolling plains, high mountains and more... NASA has it seeking and studying possible landing sites for manned missions to come... We have been an exploring species and are on the precipice to becoming a space faring species as we move little by little into the voids and celestial bodies of our solar system.

Yep! The "Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter" has been there since 2005 and there is another one up there as well, called the "Mars Express" sent there in 2003 by the European Space Agency (ESA)

Some great images but not surprising. We have earth orbit satellites that do the same, or better.

It is easier to get clear images from orbit, on Mars because of the very thin atmosphere that doesn't cause the level of distortion of Earth's atmosphere.
