Marine Gunny Gets Medal of Honor Nod for Battle of Hue Actions

Thanks for sharing LT Brad McInnis this story of Sgt Canley and the brave work he did in Hue in 1968. I was in Hue in 1971 and saw some of the scars of that battle.

I have to wonder about all these upgrade to the Medal of Honor. You never really saw any until the last 25 years or so. For a hundred and fifty years it never happened. Now it seems like not a few months go by without reaidng about another case under review. Some of them should shave been upgraded such as those who were denied due to racial biases in the military but others I'm not so sure about. I believe the Medal of Honor Society by-laws read the the Society would close once its last member died. Are some of these upgrades a way of keeping the Society going? And believe when I say I am not knocking them, just questioning all the upgrades. These were all very, very brave men and I honor and I respect them for their gallant service to their country whether they received the Navy Cross, Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star or the Medal of Honor. They are to be honored.
