The fourth singer from the right is Raul Malo, lead singer and principal songwriter of the Mavericks. Raul has also had a very successful solo career.
I’ve heard him play a number of times, once at Third & Lindsley in downtown Nashville. We were the guests of Malo’s father, Raul Malo, Sr. He was one of the last legal immigrants to the U.S. from Cuba as Castro’s regime took control of the country (‘57-‘58). He had an extraordinary story and I was privileged to work with him for a few years.
