SGT (Join to see), just because an individual (or two) has celebrity, doesn't necessarily mean that what they have to say is of consequence (the logical fallacy of appeal to authority/celebrity).
Michael Vick was worth millions and squandered it. He also squandered his opportunity for a free college degree. He's a convicted felon for the horrible things he did to God's creatures. I'll let you read the link, because it's too revolting to rehash here.
Kaepernick is considered quite smart, did graduate from college and did not go prison as did Vick. However, his well publicized on field and off field antics demonstrate to me that he's not used his intellect or physical prowess all that wisely. He's shown that he's not a team player and is virtually persona non grata in the NFL, as is Vick. That either would take shots at the other just shows how far each has fallen. It's laughable.
As a Tactical (training) Officer at OCS, we always asked among ourselves, "Would I want that officer candidate to lead my son into combat?" If YES, he stayed, if NO, we did our best to help him decide to depart.
I'll paraphrase that for these two people. Would I want either of them to coach, mentor, advise, guide or counsel my son? The answer is NO.

"He's shown that he's not a team player"....might want to revise that along with your thinking that applies to Vick. Vick got a second chance and a $100million dollar contract. He made amends with damn near everyone to include Arthur Blanks who invited him back to the Falcons stadium to see his old team play, and where Vick asked him to be retired as a Falcon. You don't get that unless there is a mutual love and respect between two individuals. Tony Dungy is the ONLY reason why Vick got his second chance....not Vick himself in the NFL. Had Dungy extended the same thing to Kap, he'd be on someone's team with the owner smiling his ass off being the sheer weight Dungy carries in the NFL, and he'd know Dungy wouldn't even push the issue if there wasn't a reason for it. Kap did nothing wrong in protesting what he believed was a wrong. There was no violence attributed to him, his words, or any action he took. He stated he didn't like cops due to the actions of the few. Well that goes both ways whether or not you want to see it.
Back on Kap, if he was such a bad player answer this:
1. Harbaugh was sent packing (Singeltary built the team Harbaugh would get and ride to the SB). As with any new HC in the NFL, you want to bring in who you like. It's no secret Shannahan didn't like RGIII (wanted Kirk Cousins to start), but was stuck with him. When Harbaugh was canned, it was no secret that Kap's time was up. How does that make him a bad player when he's a lame duck player who will be cut no matter what? His contract didn't help either. His stats? Look at the entire offensive teams stats and his aren't that bad then.
2. The very team that you said didn't like him, gave him this. That would counter your argument. MacAuthur was fired....but the Army gives out the MacArthur "leadership" award..makes no sense. So you would want a CPT Mac Arthur who would tell you as the BC to "kick rocks", and "I'm in charge here"? SSG Warren Swan, you may argue about Michael Vick's virtues until the cows come home, but his despicable criminal behavior is well documented. I disapprove of Colin Kaepernick's unpatriotic (in my eyes) behavior. In my opinion, neither of these people are to be admired or emulated [, so all of your elaborate arguments and statistics are not relevant in the least to my final observation that appeared in my second comment above]. PO1 John Crafton's sentiments are quite similar to mine, so I won't reiterate them, but I'll most certainly endorse them.
Ultimately my final thought remains unchanged. Would I want either of them to coach, mentor, advise, guide or counsel my son? The answer is still NO.

SGT (Join to see) the hair may be a non issue, but he is damned right Kaepernick is just not good enough to be an NFL Quarterback. He was a one hit wonder, and now it is time for him to put on his Tebow pants and try something new.

SSG Warren Swan - Vick was speaking from experience, as a mediocre quarterback to a mediocre quarterback. I thought that the Eagles were crazy to take Vick. He should have been a RB not a QB. Kaepernick same thing, he can run, make him a running back. I thought same thing about Tebow (per my earlier comparison), he should have been a Tight End or a Fullback, not a quarterback. A lot of these guys their style of play is effective against college level defenses, but not so much when they get to the NFL. They should evaluate their skillset, and apply it where it works best.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - Tebow was a scrub with an attitude. Sam had more skill on the field than Tebow did....both are in other places now. Vicks skill set at the time of his entry ino the NFL was above par. He was here long before the Wildcat became the in "thing" that was figured out overnight with a beer. Kap's not average.....most players agree he's a solid backup, and Seattle said he was a starter somewhere else, even though the team was pulling for him to be the backup. That would've been interesting to see honestly.
Vick is talking out of pocket. He didn't walk out of prison a "new man", his "friends" and even his own brother saw to that mess. Dungy had to step in, and put the brakes on Marcus and Co. messing Vick up. Hell he got in trouble for being around some of them being it violated some of the agreements he had post prison. Kap did not hurt or harm anyone, just decided to protest what he and many others thought was wrong. Hell even I felt some of that mess was wrong. If Riley Cooper can go to a concert and threaten folks while dropping N bombs, yet still play, Kap taking a knee and saying mostly nothing that wasn't heard before isn't that bad an issue.
On a worse note...the cowgirls actually entertained the idea of bringing Romo back.... the most famous non clutch player short of Sanchez to be in a uniform and Kap can't get in? Come on Son!!!!

SSG Warren Swan You got me thinking about the Dungy aspect. I wonder if he took Vick under his wing to fill the void left when he (tragically) lost his son? I don't disagree that the whole "Prison changed me to a better person" aspect is an act. As for Kap, we gonna have to agree to disagree as far as his talent. If a team picks him up, good for him, if not, he can still tell his grandkids that for a few years he was a starting quarterback in the NFL.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - GOOD CALL!!! I was thinking of Dungy taking Vick in off perceived wrongs, not the loss of his son. That would make a big difference in why he didn't take up for Kap being Kap would be the "easier" sell between the two. Now I'm really wondering where Dungy is now on this........
