MSgt Cater, I think we have to step back and understand the readiness decline. Was it due to sequestration or was it due to a lack of funding priorities. I am of the opinion that the later gets us closer to the answer. If the Army could ever conduct an audit then we would know where the defense budget is being spent. Remember Big Army could find 400K for a gender surgery for PVT Manning but then has fiscal challenges paying for unit gunneries and vehicle services.

Sir don't worry about Tanks that operate and F18s that can actually fly.... everyone is 100% on EO, SHARP, and Transgendered Training... As you said sir, the military in general over the past few years has chosen to ignore those issues and instead focus on social issues. I am sure our senior leaders spoke out against this but were steamrolled.

MAJ (Join to see) - From my experiences, the Army always had money for Stivers prints, CAV Hats, and such. In the 4th QTR, without fail we would always get a phone call that we had X hours to spend a few million dollars or loose the money in the next years budget. Now, imagine every BCT across the Army doing the same thing. Commanders and staffs are not responsible for fiscal planning, that was taken over by the G8 which is another issue. BLUF is no one is in charge. Its a big slush fund and there is no accountability. And, Sr.Leaders will not speak out about PC or SJW initiatives. We conducted a mandatory walk at Fort Irwin for a court case in Spain for example. How a civilian court case in Spain related to an Army unit trading on METL tasks is beyond me but that is the current COA.

LTC (Join to see) I am hoping that with new leadership at DoD and the White House we might see a shift in priorities for training and equipping.

MAJ (Join to see) - I'd bet against any real reforms. Too much power and influence with GOs that retire and then bc lobbyists for Defense Contractors. Plus, there is no accountability mechanism. The entire system is fraud waste and abuse.

this is one that has been going since 2007 when the Democrats took office and hacked the Budget in favor of Social Projects and Programs benefiting their Back Pockets and re-elections...

SPC Kevin Ford
It was a result of sequestration which the Tea Party blackmailed he rest of the country into.

Spending cuts represent moment of truth for tea party
Deep federal spending cuts set to begin Friday will be a high-stakes test for the Republican Party’s brand.

SPC Kevin Ford - We could probably cite sources on this for a few weeks. In the end, someone was in charge of singing the legislation into law.

LTC (Join to see) - Given how our government works that claim is a little disingenuous. The POTUS can't write legislation, only give what is put in front of him a thumbs up or down. Some piece of legislation had to be written to raise the debt limit, and that's the only one that Congress was willing to give him. Congress is a co-equal branch of government at at some point they have to take responsibility for the part of government they control. That part is creating the legislation.
