I liked what he had to say about the VA and using health cards to expedite care.

Thanks for sharing an edited article on Gary Johnson's views on military issues and application of military force SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. He seems to be a waffler in general which explains why he describes his success among veterans based on his “not isolationist, but non-interventionist” foreign policy platform.

It's hard to break down some of the major philosophies into bite size chunks. For non-isolationist, he isn't advocating not being part of the Global community or taking actions AS NEEDED, but (non-interventionist) he doesn't think we need to be involved in EVERY conflict that pops up (world police mentality).

I don't necessarily agree with him on this (nuanced disagreement), as I view our Force as a Global Stability issue. "ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure" however, when we get into REGIONAL Conflicts (like the ME), he has a strong point.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS - thanks for providing your typical well-reasoned response.. His quote reminds me of the Monroe Doctrine where this nation purposely focused on south and central America which considered within our sphere of influence We tended to ignore the rest of the worlds' issues except for economic trade.
We were non-isolationist in terms of our desire to influence Central and South America.
The non-interventionist applied to the rest of the world except south and central America up to the early 20th century [Spanish American war expanded to the Philippines].
Since he is a libertarian it is not surprising that he is non-interventionist.
Just war theory is not applied very consistently. However the calculus for Just War is important to work through in determining which times and locations it makes sense to intervene first through diplomacy and secondarily through overt military intervention.

LTC Stephen F. - Anytime Sir. I "think" he has a clear delineation of "National Defense" vs "Global Stability." While I personally have no problem being interventionist to support Global Stability, I "believe" his line in the sand is "National Defense." We'll intervene (use military force or leverage) IF it is going to DIRECTLY affect America. We're going to use Diplomacy if it INDIRECTLY affects America.
