Why would a family let that out of their possession?

I would never let anything that tied into My family History like that go for any price. It should have continued to pass down into more generations. One reason any items I have although they may not have any cash value I'll pass them to My middle son as I know He values things like that and will also pass it down. Anything that had cash value the items have more value to Me than anything I could get for selling them. To anyone outside the family that's fine but but the items should never have been put up for sale from within the family. Not everyone values the ties to their family History though it seems.
