Very interesting, honest read. After leaving the Corps, I have had to walk a very fine line being in middle management. My heart is in the kitchen with the line cooks, but as a director, I have to play devil's advocate a lot more than I would like, and I have to go to bat for my staff with my bosses all the time. I have seen a lot of toxic leadership while I was with DOC, (the stories I could tell yall would curl your toes)- a lot of times all I could do was SMH and voice my opinion. That's where I got the reputation for being "rough on the furniture" because I wouldn't roll over. When it got to the point when it was either I look the other way or I resign, I resigned. With me, integrity is everything-js

I'm sure some of you who've had problems Command Climate issues with your new Platoon Sergeant who wants screw you over and not work with you as a platoon leader and badmouth you to your new company commannder or a new battalion commander who doesn't like you and asked you to leave for another unit. You find out later, The Platoon Sergant was threatened disciplined by the command sergeant major for his arrogance and they realize that it wasn't the platoon leader after all and with the Battalion Commander you found out 2 years later that he was asking his civilian Supply person to change the property books because he was doing things illegally which ended up causing a 15-6 investigation and that Battalion Commander was disciplined somehow after you left. Even though you did your best, sometimes it is not your fault even with good communication.

They may not like you for whatever reason and this could apply in the National Guard or the Army Reserve. I could see myself a survivor. Do you best and be vigiliant for those who hold a grudge or a bias.
