Tragic because of EGO's I remember my father telling me about MacArthur's ego when he returned to the Philippines. That "historic" beach landing had to be filmed over a dozen times till he was happy. each time the landing craft backed off the Seabees dressed the beach so it looked pristine and he changed his pants so they were dry when he stepped into the beach. What an ego. But it was NAVY PT Boats that got him his wife and kid off the Islands when the Japanese invaded. go figure.
